In reading your synopsis I see how helpful it would be to write one before starting your novel to avoid “plot holes.” A dedicated pantster I waste so much time writing then removing massive chunks then trying to figure out the true story line, and coming up with a plot! Duh. I now have 60,000 words in search of a story. Thank you for putting this all together so succinctly.

I love this. I am so bad at the synopsis. I start with a kind of outline like this (although it ranges from 10 to 30 pages), but then my characters just do their own thing anyway. I’m wondering if I were more strategic and crafted it a little more cleanly from the start, and then changed it as the plot changed, I’d help myself a lot. I still may have to summarize, but 30 pages feels a lot easier than 300.
